  • Very short News item for ASEG's Preview newsletter announcing the availability of the Tasman Frontier Geophysical Data Base

  • This dataset contains species identifications of benthic worms collected during survey TAN0713 (R.V. Tangaroa, 7 Oct - 22 Nov 2007). Animals were collected from the Faust and Capel basins and Gifford Guyot with a boxcore, rock dredge, or epibenthic sled. Specimens were lodged at Museum of Victoria in June 2008. Species-level identifications were undertaken by Robin Wilson at the Museum of Victoria and were delivered to Geoscience Australia on 1 Aug 2008. See GA Record 2009/22 for further details on survey methods and specimen acquisition. Data is presented here exactly as delivered by the taxonomist, and Geoscience Australia is unable to verify the accuracy of the taxonomic identifications.

  • This USB has been produced for promotional purposes and will be handed out (free) at domestic and international conferences. The USB contains a selection of GA reports, flyers, maps and data. Products are grouped into 4 categories: Records and Brochures, Mineral Deposits, Geophysical Data and Surface Geology.

  • When the PMDCRC project concluded at Geoscience Australia, some data was left unsorted. This directory contains that residual data. In 2001, a partnership was formed between Australia's mining industry and research community to examine the issues surrounding predictive mineral exploration in Australia. In the preceding decade, despite record levels of exploration, the discovery of high level deposits declined. The predictive mineral discovery Cooperative Research Centre (pmd *CRC ) began its work to find new methods of predicting where the mineral deposits lay. The research looked to create a fundamental shift in mineral exploration practice giving greater scope for larger finds at greatly reduced costs by developing a vastly improved understanding of mineralising processes and a four dimensional understanding of the evolution of the geology of mineralised terrains. Since its inception, research has been carried out by the CRC through innovative and effective programs and projects over a two stage process. This website will act as a major portal for the dissemination of research findings. As well it offers the mining industry, the education sector and the wider community information and access to experts in the field, case studies of successful programs, business opportunities and employment directions for young emerging students and researchers. The pmd *CRC formally ceased to exist on 30 June 2008

  • Meteorological data from the Arcturus (ARA) atmospheric greenhouse gas baseline station. Data includes time stamp (local time), air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, sigma, solar radiation, barometric pressure and rainfall total. Dataset limited to the 1/6/12 to 8/7/12.

  • This dataset contains species identifications of molluscs collected during survey SOL4934 (R.V. Solander, 27 August - 24 September, 2009). Animals were collected from the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf with a benthic sled. Specimens were lodged at Northern Territory Museum on the 8 February 2010. Species-level identifications were undertaken by Richard Willan at the Northern Territory Museum and were delivered to Geoscience Australia on the 15 March 2010. See GA Record 2010/09 for further details on survey methods and specimen acquisition. Data is presented here exactly as delivered by the taxonomist, and Geoscience Australia is unable to verify the accuracy of the taxonomic identifications.<p><p>This dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes.

  • This record has been created for Sales to be able to invoice data requests that occur from downloading of data from the National Elevation Data Framework (NEDF) Web Portal. The Portal was set up in 2010 and data more than 400MB needs to be downloaded from the holding pen on the NEDF server and copied onto media and sent to the requester. Each data request will come with metadata and the appropriate data licence.
