This map shows Australian operating mines, deposits where development has commenced or where a decision to mine has been announced, and selected mineral deposits. Closed mines or mines not currently operating are not shown. It illustrates broadly the geographic distribution of mines and deposits a the range of selected commodities mined.

Geoscience Australia distributes a range of Antarctica maps and images at various scales and currency, on behalf of Australian Antarctic Division. The 2002 version of this product has been completely revised, including the source information. The data is derived primarily from GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 1 data. Topographic features include: State borders, roads, railways, populated places, rivers and lakes, coastline and islands, bathymetric and land contours, spot elevations. The product meets Geoscience Australia`s GEODATA quality standard and is suitable for GIS applications. In October 2003, the data was released in double precision coordinates.
