This map is part of a series which comprises 50 maps which covers the whole of Australia at a scale of 1:1 000 000 (1cm on a map represents 10km on the ground). Each standard map covers an area of 6 degrees longitude by 4 degrees latitude or about 590 kilometres east to west and about 440 kilometres from north to south. These maps depict natural and constructed features including transport infrastructure (roads, railway airports), hydrography, contours, hypsometric and bathymetric layers, localities and some administrative boundaries, making this a useful general reference map.

This map shows the estimated extent of banana plantations in Innisfail on (date to be determined), prior to Tropical Cyclone Yasi (TC Yasi) impacting the area. Cloudy conditions over areas affected by TC Yasi required the use of cloud penetrating radar satellites to observe the affected areas.

At this scale 1cm on the map represents 1km on the ground. Each map covers a minimum area of 0.5 degrees longitude by 0.5 degrees latitude or about 54 kilometres by 54 kilometres. The contour interval is 20 metres.

These datasets cover approximately 114 sq km over the Kowanyama Community within the Kowanyama Shire Council and are part of the 2010 Gulf LiDAR capture project. This project, undertaken by Vekta Pty Ltd on behalf of the Queensland Government captured highly accurate elevation data using LiDAR technology. Available dataset formats (in 1 kilometre tiles) are: - Classified las (LiDAR Data Exchange Format where strikes are classified as ground, vegetation or building) - 1 metre Digital Elevation Model (DEM) in ASCII xyz - 1 metre Digital Elevation Model (DEM) in ESRI grid - 1 metre Digital Elevation Model (DEM) in ASCII grid - 0.25 metre contours in ESRI Shape

This project, undertaken by Schlencker Mapping Pty Ltd on behalf of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council captured highly accurate elevation data using LiDAR technology. Available dataset formats (in 1 kilometre tiles) are: - Classified las (LiDAR Data Exchange Format where strikes are classified as ground and non-ground)
