  • The Peterborough to Port Fairy bathymetry survey was acquired by Deakin University Marine Mapping lab onboard the M/V Yolla during the period 28 May 2018 - 19 June 2018 using a Kongsberg EM2040C multibeam sonar system. The survey was completed as part of the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program, which requires bathymetry data to understand offshore sediment dynamics within Victorian coastal waters. This dataset contains a 2m-resolution 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF file of the bathymetry in the study area, derived from the processed EM2040C bathymetry data using CARIS HIPS and SIPS software. This dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes.

  • This resource includes multibeam sonar backscatter data for Middleton Reef and Elizabeth Reef within Lord Howe Marine Park collected by Geoscience Australia during the period 31 January to 6 February 2020 on the Australian Maritime College vessel, TV Bluefin. The survey was undertaken as a collaborative project funded through the National Environmental Science Program Marine Biodiversity Hub, with the Institute for Marine & Antarctic Studies (University of Tasmania), NSW Department of Primary Industries, University of Sydney (Australian Centre for Field Robotics) and Parks Australia (Marine Park managers, Commonwealth Government). The purpose of the survey was to collect baseline information for benthic habitats within the National Park Zone (Middleton Reef) and Recreational Use Zone (Elizabeth Reef) of the marine park. These data will support ongoing environmental monitoring within the Temperate East Marine Park Network as part of its 10-year management plan (2018-2028). Data acquisition for the project included seabed mapping using multibeam sonar (Kongsberg EM 2040C HD, 300 kHz), seabed imagery acquisition by Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV Sirius and AUV Nimbus), sediment samples (grab) and imagery of demersal fish communities by baited remote underwater videos (BRUVs). This dataset comprises two bathymetry grids derived from multibeam sonar data gridded at 4 mspatial resolution.   • The Tasmante bathymetry survey, GA-0125 was acquired by Geoscience Australia onboard the IFREMER N/O L'Atalante from the 12th of February to the 28th of March 1994 using a Simrad EM12 Dual sonar system. The objectives of the west Tasmanian swath-mapping cruise (Tasmante) are to: determine the structure of the continental margin off west Tasmania, on the South Tasman Rise, and on the adjacent abyssal plain; examine the relationships between lithospheric extension in continental crust, the orientation of the seafloor spreading phases, and the formation of the transform margin along west Tasmania and the South Tasman Rise; map sedimentary patterns and processes to build an understanding of Neogene changes in sedimentation and their relationship to tectonic and climatic. This dataset contains a 100m resolution 32-bit geotiff of the Tasmante survey, produced from the processed EM12D bathymetry data of the survey area using the CARIS HIPS and SIPS software.   • This is a compilation of all the processed bathymetric datasets held by Geoscience Australia for the Otway Basin, extending from Cape Jaffa in South Australia to north-west Tasmania. This dataset includes multibeam echosounder and LIDAR data, and was gridded at two resolutions (50 and 128 m) based on optimal resolution for the depth range encountered. The objective of this Otway Basin bathymetry dataset is to increase our understanding of the seafloor geomorphology of the region and provide a primary input dataset for the creation of numerous subsurface geophysical products. These include inputs to calibrated gravity and magnetic data to provide new insights to geological morphology and processes, inputs to 2D and 3D seismic processing for better subsurface imaging, inputs to velocity modelling for better time to depth conversions, and inputs to depth of burial 3D models to understand how sedimentary basins have evolved over geological time.   • ​The King Island North, Bass Strait, bathymetry survey was acquired for the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) onboard the M/V Pacific Quest during the period 28 January to 6 May 2021. This was a contracted survey conducted as part of the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP). The survey area encompasses a region located north of King Island in Bass Strait, including the approaches to Phoques Bay, located at the NW extremity of King Island. Bathymetry data was acquired using a Kongsberg EM2040D and processed using QPS Qimera V2.0.1. The dataset was then exported to GeoTIFF using CARIS HIPS and SIPS software. This dataset contains a 30m-resolution 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF file of the bathymetry in the survey area. This dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes.

  • This resource includes bathymetry data acquired during the Bremer, Leeuwin and Perth Canyons bathymetry survey using Kongsberg EM302 and EM710 multibeam sonar systems. The Bremer, Leeuwin and Perth Canyons survey (FK200126/GA4865), also known as The Great Australian Deep-Sea Coral and Canyon Adventure survey (https://schmidtocean.org/cruise/coralandcanyonadventure), was led by Dr. Julie Trotter (The University of Western Australia) and Dr. Paolo Montagna (Institute of Polar Sciences) aboard the Schmidt Ocean Institute's research vessel Falkor, from the 26th of January to the 25th of February 2020. The primary objective of the expedition was to map underwater landscapes in the Bremer, Leeuwin and Perth Canyons, characterise chemical and physical oceanography, and use the SOIs ROV SuBastian to capture high-definition video and collect samples. This V1 dataset contains nine 2m to 64m resolution 32-bit floating point geotiff files of the bathymetry in these three study areas and transits, derived from the processed EM302 and EM710 bathymetry data, using CARIS HIPS and SIPS software. An independently processed dataset in GSF format is available at https://www.marine-geo.org/tools/search/DataSets.php?data_set_uids=30215,30216 produced by researchers on the cruise: F. Foglini, A.   • This resource includes bathymetry data acquired during the Keppel Bay 2004 bathymetry survey. Data were collected using a Reson SeaBat 8125 multibeam sonar system by Curtin University of Technology (CUT), Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and Geoscience Australia (GA) on the charter vessel Rum Rambler during the period 20th – 26th September 2004. The survey was undertaken as a collaborative project between CUT, DSTO and GA under the Coastal Water Habitat Mapping (CWHM) Project within Coastal Cooperative Research Centre Program. The purpose of the project was to build baseline information for benthic habitats within the study area. This V1 dataset contains a 1m resolution 32-bit floating point geotiff file of the bathmetry of target areas in Keppel Bay, derived from the processed Reson SeaBat 8125 bathymetry data, using CARIS HIPS and SIPS software.   • The Darwin Harbour bathymetry survey, GA-0333 was acquired by Geoscience Australia (GA), iXSurvey Australia Pty Ltd, and the Darwin Port Corporation (DPC) onboard the vessel 'Matthew Flinders' from 17 October to 07 November 2010 using GA's Kongsberg EM3002D multibeam sonar system and DPC's The specific objectives of the survey were to: 1. Obtain high resolution geophysical (bathymetry) data for Darwin Harbour; 2. Characterise substrates (acoustic backscatter properties, grainsize, sediment chemistry) for Darwin Harbour; and 3. Collect tidal data for the survey area. This V0 dataset contains a 1m resolution 32-bit geotiff of the Darwin Harbour survey area produced from the processed EM3002D sonar bathymetry data.   • This resource contains multibeam bathymetry data collected as part of the Darwin and Bynoe Harbour Habitat Mapping Project undertaken by Geoscience Australia (GA), the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) and the Northern Territory Government (Department of Environment and Natural Resources). The data were acquired during the period from 3 to 27 May 2016 on the RV Solander (survey SOL6432/GA04452). This project was made possible through offset funds provided by INPEX-led Ichthys LNG Project to Northern Territory Government Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and co-investment from Geoscience Australia and Australian Institute of Marine Science. The intent of this four year (2014-2018) project is to improve knowledge of the marine environments in the Darwin and Bynoe Harbour regions by collating and collecting baseline data that enable the creation of thematic habitat maps that underpin marine resource management decisions. The specific objectives of the survey were to: 1. Obtain high-resolution geophysical (multibeam bathymetry) data for Bynoe Harbour; 2. Characterise seabed substrates (multibeam acoustic backscatter properties, seabed sediment grainsize, sediment chemistry) for Bynoe Harbour; and 3. Collect tidal data for the survey area. Data acquired during the survey included: multibeam sonar bathymetry and acoustic backscatter; physical samples of seabed sediments, seabed still images and video footage of grab sample locations, and oceanographic information including tidal data and water column sound velocity profiles. This V1 dataset contains two 2m resolution 32-bit geotiff of the SOL6432 survey area produced from the processed Kongsberg EM2040C bathymetry data.   • This resource includes bathymetry data acquired during the Shellharbour Tharawal marine survey collected by the NSW government (Department of Planning and Environment – DPE) during the period 25 May – 30 November 2017 onboard the RV Bombora using DPE’s R2Sonic 2022 multibeam sonar. The Shellharbour bathymetry survey was led by Dr. Bradley Morris (DPE Coasts and Marine) as part of SeabedNSW program funded by NSW Coastal Reforms package. The purpose of the project was to 1) provide a baseline dataset and 2) map the spatial distribution of seabed types. The data will provide a better understanding of nearshore sediment distribution/transport mechanisms for improved assessment of threats/risks associated with erosion events (i.e. East Coast Lows) and changing sea levels. This dataset contains 2 x 32-bit floating point geotiff files of bathymetry (2m and 5m gridded) for the study area, derived from the processed Hypack, R2Sonic GUI, POSView, POSPac and Qimera software.
