<p>The Australian Stratigraphic Units Database (ASUD) is the national authority on stratigraphic names in Australia. It originated as the National Register of Stratigraphic Names in 1949. The register was originally set up to help geoscientists adhere to the then newly created Australian Code of Stratigraphic Nomenclature (Lenz, et al, 1996). All information was held in a card file system until 1979 when the database was first developed electronically. The database now records information on all Australian stratigraphic units and their usage in published literature. <p>The database contains about 17500 currently approved stratigraphic names and over 36000 variations, most of which are superseded, obsolete, or misspelt versions of the current names. Digital Earth Australia Hotspots is a national bushfire monitoring system that provides timely information about hotspots to emergency service managers across Australia. The mapping system uses satellite sensors to detect areas producing high levels of infrared radiation (called Hotspots) to allow users to identify potential fire locations with a possible risk to communities and property. Digital Earth Australia Hotspots is not published in real time and should not be used for safety of life decisions.

This application provides a map view of the Coastal Waters (State/Territory Powers) Act 1980 - Australian Maritime Boundaries (2020) data, held within the Australian Marine Spatial Information System (AMSIS). The map shows a digital representation of the limits by which the waters adjacent to each of the Australian States and of the Northern Territory are determined under the Coastal Waters (State Powers) Act 1980, Coastal Waters (Northern Territory Powers) Act 1980.

Geoscience Australia’s Historical Aerial Photography Program currently involves scanning and georeferencing old flight diagrams to enable the digitising and positioning of historical aerial photographs for easy discovery and download. Accurate digital mapping of GA’s aerial photography collection will make catalogue searches easier and the collection more accessible to the public.
