Note that this list was published prior to the completion of the series and thus was intended as a progress report. The R502 series of maps has been replaced by the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS). The R502 series consists of 542 map sheets and covers Australia at a scale of 1:250,000. It was compiled from aerial photography, but only about one quarter of the series was contoured. The standard sheet size is 1 degree of latitude by 1.5 degrees of longitude. Transverse Mercator map projection and Clark 1858 datum were used. Coverage of the country was completed in 1968.

<div>Major Roads is a subset of the National Roads by Geoscape dataset, filtered for highways, arterial and sub-arterial roads. National Roads by Geoscape is a digital representation of the road network of Australia. National Roads contains linear features to describe surfaces that have been improved to enable vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle transportation on land and ferry routes that enable vehicles to cross water bodies. National Roads does not include railways, tramways, driveways or passenger ferry routes.</div><div><br></div><div>This dataset provides an optimised aggregated national view of road geometry and attribution. The dataset is created from multiple sources including jurisdictional data which is revised regularly and supplied in varying formats and at different levels of quality.</div><div><br></div><div>The area covers the land mass of Australia, including offshore islands. Norfolk Island is currently not included.</div>

<div>This data package contains interpretations of airborne electromagnetic (AEM) conductivity sections in the Exploring for the Future (EFTF) program’s Eastern Resources Corridor (ERC) study area, in south eastern Australia. Conductivity sections from 3 AEM surveys were interpreted to provide a continuous interpretation across the study area – the EFTF AusAEM ERC (Ley-Cooper, 2021), the Frome Embayment TEMPEST (Costelloe et al., 2012) and the MinEx CRC Mundi (Brodie, 2021) AEM surveys. Selected lines from the Frome Embayment TEMPEST and MinEx CRC Mundi surveys were chosen for interpretation to align with the 20 km line-spaced EFTF AusAEM ERC survey (Figure 1).</div><div>The aim of this study was to interpret the AEM conductivity sections to develop a regional understanding of the near-surface stratigraphy and structural architecture. To ensure that the interpretations took into account the local geological features, the AEM conductivity sections were integrated and interpreted with other geological and geophysical datasets, such as boreholes, potential fields, surface and basement geology maps, and seismic interpretations. This approach provides a near-surface fundamental regional geological framework to support more detailed investigations. </div><div>This study interpreted between the ground surface and 500 m depth along almost 30,000 line kilometres of nominally 20 km line-spaced AEM conductivity sections, across an area of approximately 550,000 km2. These interpretations delineate the geo-electrical features that correspond to major chronostratigraphic boundaries, and capture detailed stratigraphic information associated with these boundaries. These interpretations produced approximately 170,000 depth estimate points or approximately 9,100 3D line segments, each attributed with high-quality geometric, stratigraphic, and ancillary data. The depth estimate points are formatted for compliance with Geoscience Australia’s (GA) Estimates of Geological and Geophysical Surfaces (EGGS) database, the national repository for standardised depth estimate points. </div><div>Results from these interpretations provided support to stratigraphic drillhole targeting, as part of the Delamerian Margins NSW National Drilling Initiative campaign, a collaboration between GA’s EFTF program, the MinEx CRC National Drilling Initiative and the Geological Survey of New South Wales. The interpretations have applications in a wide range of disciplines, such as mineral, energy and groundwater resource exploration, environmental management, subsurface mapping, tectonic evolution studies, and cover thickness, prospectivity, and economic modelling. It is anticipated that these interpretations will benefit government, industry and academia with interest in the geology of the ERC region.</div>

Ausimage Canberra 2014 is an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGS) Web Map Service (WMS) of high resolution aerial imagery over Canberra and Queanbeyan, acquired in February and April 2014. It is published in a variety of common projections and is ready for use in corporate GIS and desktop mapping applications. The Ausimage dataset served by the Ausimage Canberra 2014 WMS is the intellectual property of Jacobs Group (Australia) Pty Ltd. Geoscience Australia provides the Ausimage Canberra 2014 WMS under a licence agreement with Jacobs Group (Australia) Pty Ltd that allows view only access to the Ausimage dataset on Commonwealth Government Web sites. Commonwealth owned agencies may obtain the original, full resolution Ausimage dataset from Geoscience Australia. All other entities may obtain the original, full resolution Ausimage dataset from Jacobs Group (Australia) Pty Ltd.

The SDE Cartographic Database (SCARTO) is a subset of the former SDE Best Available Geographic Database (SBAGD). SCARTO contains only the cartographic feature datasets and feature classes such as annotation, graticules, framework boundaries, map indexes, marine hazard areas and points, physiography and vegetation. SBAGD is a historic database comprising the GEODATA TOPO 250K Series 3 data and any updates that were made from 2008-2013. This vector data represents major topographic features and has been sourced through many programs such as the National Topographic Information Coordination Initiative (NTICI). The topographic data complies with the Topographic Data and Map Specifications for the National Topographic Database & NTMS Series 1:250 000 & 1:100 000 scale topographic map products version 6.0. To use this dataset please contact the Spatial Platforms team (eGIS), spatialplatforms@ga.gov.au, and obtain an SDE login for use within your selected GIS software.
