To support these activities, Geoscience Australia has developed a building information system called the National Exposure Information System (NEXIS) which provides information on buildings across Australia. Most of the building level information in NEXIS is statistically derived, but efforts are being made to include more detailed information on the nature of individual buildings, particularly in CBD areas. This is being achieved in Melbourne through field survey work.</div>

NEXIS products are not intended for operational purposes at the building or individual feature level. Its strength is to provide consistent aggregated exposure information for individual event footprints or at standard community, local, state and national geographies such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Statistical Areas (SA) or Local Government Areas (LGA). NEXIS Building exposure information consists of Residential, Commercial and Industrial buildings. This information can be used to understand the type, use, age and structural characteristics such as number of storeys, roof type and wall type of the building stock nationally. Building exposure information can also be used to estimate population attributes such as the number of occupants, household income and other demographic indicators, as well as economic impacts based on building construction and replacement costs. The NEXIS Residential Dwelling Density is a national grid-based representation derived from the number and distribution of dwellings produced from the NEXIS residential buildings data. </div><div><br></div><div>Dwelling density is available as a web service displaying the aggregate number of dwellings, at four different raster scales and resolutions, to show the distribution and density of residential dwellings across Australia.   • This dataset presents a three hourly accumulation of bushfire boundaries throughout the 2021/22 bushfire season (1/9/2021 - 30/4/22) for all Australian jurisdictions who have the technical ability and/or appropriate licence conditions to provide this information. The accuracy and completeness of the data attributes within this webservice is reliant on each jurisdictional source and the information they elect to publish into their historical bushfire boundary data products. The update frequency of the underlying data varies across the jurisdictions and therefore data may not be present in some areas. No filtering has been performed where source data overlaps.
