  • This Record presents new Sensitive High Resolution Ion Micro Probe (SHRIMP) U–Pb geochronological results from the Aileron Province that were obtained during the Northern Territory Geological Survey–Geoscience Australia (NTGS–GA) geochronology project under the National Collaboration Framework (NCF) agreement, in July 2020.   • This Record presents data collected in September 2019 as part of the ongoing Northern Territory Geological Survey–Geoscience Australia (NTGS–GA) SHRIMP geochronology project under the National Collaborative Framework (NCF) agreement and Geoscience Australia's Exploring for the Future (EFTF) Program. Two new U–Pb SHRIMP zircon geochronological results derived from two samples of the Balbirini Dolostone (southern McArthur Basin, Northern Territory) are presented herein. The Balbirini Dolostone is part of the early Mesoproterozoic Nathan Group, and is a thick unit of interbedded dolostone and dolomitic siliciclastic rocks that include evaporitic redbeds. The two samples were collected in June 2019 from the type section of the Balbirini Dolostone in southern BAUHINIA DOWNS (MALLAPUNYAH). <b>Bibliographic Reference:</b> Kositcin N, and Munson TJ, 2020.   • This Record presents twelve new zircon U-Pb geochronological results from the South Nicholson region, conducted on Geoscience Australia’s Sensitive High Resolution Ion Micro Probe (SHRIMP), as part of the Commonwealth Government’s Exploring for the Future (EFTF) program, an initiative to better understand the mineral, energy and groundwater potential of northern Australia. These data will facilitate greater understanding of the geological evolution of the South Nicholson region, a vast and underexplored region extending across north-eastern Northern Territory and far north-western Queensland. Samples were collected from across the South Nicholson region including MOUNT DRUMMOND, CALVERT HILLS, BRUNETTE DOWNS (NT), LAWN HILL and CAMOOWEAL (QLD) 250K mapsheets. Four samples are from outcrop and eight samples from six stratigraphic and exploration drillholes. Samples were collected from the Paleoproterozoic Murphy Province and from overlying successions of the Paleoproterozoic Benmara Group and the Mesoproterozoic South Nicholson Group. Several samples from drillholes, have stratigraphic affinities that are uncertain and speculative.

  • This Record presents new Sensitive High Resolution Ion MicroProbe (SHRIMP) U–Pb zircon results obtained under the auspices of the Geological Survey of Queensland–Geoscience Australia (GSQ–GA) National Collaboration Framework (NCF) geochronology project between July 2016 and June 2017. This Record presents results from six newly analysed samples, in support of ongoing regional mapping and geoscientific programs led by GSQ in the Georgetown, Coen and Cairns regions. Three magmatic samples were analysed from unnamed rhyolite dykes within the Georgetown region (Gilberton 1:250 000 sheet SE5416), two samples (one magmatic and one metasedimentary) from the Coen region(Coen SD5408), and one metasedimentary sample from the Cairns region (Innisfail SE5506).   • This Record presents six previously unpublished U–Pb SHRIMP zircon geochronological results from the Aileron Province in the Northern Territory. The data was collected to investigate the timing of localised and poorly documented granulite facies high-T, low-P metamorphism across isolated outcrops in the central and western Aileron Province. The study was also designed to test the maximum deposition ages of the metasedimentary rocks across this large area, and whether the data are consistent with the samples being high-grade equivalents of the Lander Rock Formation. <b>Bibliographic Reference:</b> Kositcin N, and Scrimgeour IR, 2020.   • SHRIMP U-Pb zircon and monazite geochronology of magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks sampled from an undercover region informally referred to as ‘East Tennant’, located approximately 200 km east of Tennant Creek, has redefined our knowledge of the geology of this region. These results establish strong temporal links with rocks in the Au-Cu-Bi mineralised Tennant Creek region (Warramunga Province) and the Paleoproterozoic Murphy Province, approximately 270 km to the northeast. Detrital zircon U-Pb analyses of two metasedimentary samples show maximum depositional ages of ca. 1875 Ma and detrital zircon age spectra similar to Warramunga Formation metasedimentary rocks in the Warramunga Province. Additionally, three extrusive rocks and an intermediate intrusive rock have magmatic crystallisation ages of 1858–1849 Ma, synchronous with magmatism in the Warramunga Province associated with the 1860–1845 Ma Tennant Event. Monazite U-Pb analyses of two samples of metapelites from the East Tennant region and Murphy Province record metamorphism at ca. 1845 Ma, which is also synchronous with magmatism associated with the Tennant Event. These new results suggest that the undercover East Tennant region could represent an extension of the Warramunga Province and therefore be prospective for Au-Cu-Bi mineralisation. <b>Citation:</b> Cross, A.J., Clark, A.D., Schofield, A. and Kositcin, N., 2020.   • This Record presents new Sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe (SHRIMP) U–Pb geochronological results for samples collected from the Mount Isa Inlier and covered areas to the east. The Mary Kathleen Domain is the focus of this work and 11 metasedimentary and igneous samples were analysed from across the distribution of the domain.
