Abstract
In the severi months from the beginning of May to the end of November 1966, the Bureau of Mineral Resources carried out a seismic survey on the Flinders Regional Gravity Low in north-central Queensland. The first six months of the survey were spent in investigating the sedimentary section between Richmond and Julia Creek, particularly to determine whether there was any appreciable thickness of Palaeozoic sediments. The seismic results proved that basement was reasonably shallow and that no appreciable thickness or Palaeozoic sediments can be expected in the area. One month of the survey was then devoted to seismic work near Bowen Downs Homestead, north of Aramac, in an effort to determine the location of the western margin of the Drummond Basin. This work demonstrated that sediments of the Drummond Basin increase in thickness rapidly to the east in the area surveyed.

Lineage
During May to November1966, the Bureau of Mineral Resources carried out a reconnaissance seismic survey in the northern part of the Eromanga Basin in Queensland. In previous years this area has been mapped by the Bureau's Geological Branch (Vine, etal 1963, 1964) and has also been covered by reconnaissance helicopter gravity surveys. On the basis of the correlation between the geology and the Buguer anomaly map the area has been divided up into a number of gravity provinces (Gibb, 1966). The purpose of this survey was to investigate one of these provinces, the Flinders Regional Gravity Low, with particular reference to the extent of Palaeozoic sedimentation throughout the area. Previous geophysical work has been carried out by the Bureau and several private companies. Exoil carried out combination reflection - refraction surveys in the Lake Galilee- -Lake Buchanan and Torrens Creek areas and an airborne magnetometer survey in the Aramac - Mt. Coolon area. Artesian Basin Oil Co. Ltd. carried out a seismic survey in the Muttaburra area. Amerada Petroleum Corporation carried out an extensive seismic survey in the Hughenden - Muttaburra -Bowen Downs area. Gravity surveys have been conducted by the B.M.R. and Magellan Petroleum Corp. A subsidiary objective of the present survey was to provide a tie with previous seismic work carried out.
