Late Albian planktonic foraminifera, Strickland River, Papua New Guinea

Abstract

A small planktonic foraminiferal fauna from a sample on the Strickland River extends knowledge of mid-Cretaceous foraminifera in Papua New Guinea. Genera recorded are Globigerinelloides, Hedbergella, Planomalina, Praeglobotruncana, and Rotalipora. On the basis of recorded stratigraphic ranges of species identified, a late Albian age is given to the fauna.
