Abstract
Contains a State wide digital elevation model. Source data is mainly based on VICMAP DIGTAL SDMBT at the 1: 25 000 scales. The DEM has a grid spacing of 20 metres in VICGRID66. Each value in the DEM represents the average elevation covered by the grid square.Quality control is implemented throughout the production process. The ANUDEM algorithm developed by Dr Mike Hutchinson of the Australian National University was used to create the grids where the elevation source data is contour-dominated. The TIN algorithm implemented in the ARCINFO GIS software was used in conjunction with the ANUDEM algorithm to create the grid where the elevation source data is spot-dominated

Data Set Source: The DEM was derived using the following data sets: - VICMAP DIGITAL TOPO-25K Relief theme which consists of more than ? million spot elevations taken from contours or observed during 1:25 000 scale map production. (These points have an RMS of less than 5 metres.) - VICMAP DIGITAL TOPO-25K Hydrography theme. Watercourses and waterbodies from 1:25 000 scale mapping. Watercourses were flipped so that the sequence of points run in the direction of flow. - VICMAP DIGITAL TOPO-25K Hydrography theme. Coastline derived from 1:25 000 scale mapping. Coastlines were also used as 0 height (AHD) contours - About 145000 survey marks from LAND VICTORIA'S SMES database - CLPR provided elevation data from its State wide bore database. - MPV provided elevation data from its State wide gravimetric database and its airborne geophysical surveys. - PFF provided bathmetric data from its coastal database The DEM was created using the ANUDEM algorithm with the parameter settings detailed in the technical specifications.
