L216 Boodjamulla-Croydon Seismic Survey

<div>The Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) and Geoscience Australia (GA) acquired 842 km of seismic data in northern Queensland between 24 July and 3 September 2025. The L216 Boodjamulla–Croydon seismic survey was designed to image crustal architecture from the Western Subprovince of the Mount Isa Inlier, across the Carpentaria Basin and into the Croydon Province of the Georgetown Inlier. The survey comprises three transects routed along existing roads to minimise new ground disturbance and streamline land access, with active engagement across the Burke, Carpentaria, Mount Isa City, Cloncurry and Croydon shires. Field operations were delivered by Terrex Seismic under joint GSQ–GA management and were co-funded through the Queensland Government and the Australian Government’s Resourcing Australia’s Prosperity initiative (RAPi).</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>In earlier deep-crustal surveys in Queensland and the Northern Territory, night-time acquisition was used to reduce noise and improve imaging of deeper structures. Building on this approach, the current survey introduced a complementary daytime program using the same receiver layout to improve resolution of upper-crustal and near-surface features. In addition, nodes recorded continuously, producing a passive seismic dataset suitable for ambient noise tomography and interferometric analyses. This is the first survey to combine all these approaches to generate three complementary datasets from a single program. Further details on the acquisition parameters and deployment logistics are provided in the accompanying acquisition report.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>This eCat record provides the central long-term access point for data products associated with the L216 Boodjamulla–Croydon seismic survey. Data will be released in stages as it becomes available.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Raw field data for this survey are now available from Geoscience Australia. Purpose

This product provides central, long-term access to all released data and documentation from the L216 Boodjamulla–Croydon deep-crustal seismic survey. It enables users to obtain raw field data, acquisition reports, and future processed datasets as they become publicly available, supporting geological interpretation, crustal architecture studies, and regional exploration activities across northwest Queensland.

Statement

<div>The L216 Boodjamulla–Croydon seismic survey was acquired in 2025 under a joint program between the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) and Geoscience Australia (GA), with field operations delivered by Terrex Seismic. Survey design, acquisition parameters, and operational logistics followed the dual-mode day–night methodology applied in recent deep-crustal programs across Queensland and the Northern Territory. All data were subject to GSQ–GA quality assurance and validation workflows prior to release. This product compiles the approved datasets and documentation for long-term public access.</div><div><br></div>
