Abstract
<div>The AusSeabed Bathymetry Survey Acquisitions Coverage database contains polygon extents of bathymetry data acquisitions along with identifying attributes and contact details where the data is not held by Geoscience Australia. It is an important scientific resource that identifies data spanning coastal, continental shelf and deep sea locations. </div><div><br></div><div>This dataset is live and will continue to be augmented as coverage details are supplied from AusSeabed collaborators who wish to share their knowledge of data availability to the broader marine community. The database is updated regularly and is made available via the AusSeabed Marine Data Portal using OGC compliant web services. Surveys/Data Acquisitions have been conducted by a wide range of organisations and countries, both inside and outside Australia's marine jurisdiction, using multiple systems and for various applications. Data coverages are published where the polygon extents intersects with Australia's marine jurisdiction, including the Australian Antarctic Territory. Each polygon in the layer contains metadata describing survey details. </div><div>Note that polygons may not be representative of the true survey extent due to the data gridding process. </div><div><br></div>For a list of source data contributions see Technical Lineage.<br> Please note that this public coverage does not include information that has been provided to Geoscience Australia under a Restricted and Exclusive license. However, the additional restricted information is used during the computation of Australian marine jurisdiction’s Percent Mapped assessment. <br> <div>Please contact us at ausseabed@ga.gov.au if you wish to contribute coverage information to the database.</div>

Data is collated from AusSeabed Contributing Hubs, AusSeabed Data Providers, the Geoscience Australia processing and publication pipeline, and from collaborators who wish to increase the knowledge of marine data availability to the broader marine community. <br> <br> The AusSeabed 'Bathymetry Acquisitions Coverage (Dynamic)' is compiled from: <br> <br> <UL> <LI>International data acquirers travelling through Australia's EEZ <LI>Domestic data acquirers published on the AusSeabed Marine Data Portal made up of: <UL> <LI>computed footprints of individual Geoscience Australia bathymetry survey/acquisitions <LI>computed footprints of Investigator and Southern Surveyor Survey/Acquisitions supplied by CSIRO <LI>computed footprints of Aurora Australis and Nuyina Survey/Acquisitions supplied by the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) <LI>computed footprints from AusSeabed data contributors (Australian Universities, State Authorities and other contributors) </UL <UL> <LI>Additionally, coverage indexes are also sourced from: <UL> <LI>The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), the Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO), the WA Dept of Transport (WADoT), WA Landgate, City of Gold Coast, and various Port Authorities.<br> </UL> </UL> Please <b>note</b> that this public coverage does not include information that has been provided to Geoscience Australia under a Restricted and Exclusive license. However, the additional restricted information is used during the computation of Australian marine jurisdiction’s Percent Mapped assessment to ensure an accurate and consistent calculation can be prepared.<br> <br> Data is often received as Shapefiles or ESRI File Geodatabases or generated from a Raster to Vector transformation of bathymetry grids (geoTIFFs). <br> These are compiled, cleaned, simplified and validated using ESRI and OGC geometry tools along with key identifiying metadata attributes.
