Abstract
As part of the Urban Digital Elevation Modelling (UDEM) Project (July 2008- June 2010), Airborne LiDAR data were acquired in partnership with State jurisdictions over priority areas including Perth-Bunbury, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney and the NSW Hunter and Central Coast. These datasets were then further processed to produce hydrologically enforced and conditioned DEMs (Hydro-DEMs).

Lineage
Hydro-DEMs have been generated for this project by processing raw LiDAR point clouds. In their raw state there is too much noise originating from minor discrepancies caused by the uncertainty of the originating return signal, for example whether the return has bounced off the top of kerb, bottom of kerb, a tussock or a puddle or by pure LiDAR system limitations. Due to this noise and/or the high accuracy of the data model, even minor anomalies or puddles obstruct water flow modelling.
