Lineage
AMB2014 is the third iteration of the Australian Maritime Boundary dataset, a dataset designed to provide advice on the limits of Australian maritime jurisdiction. This version is designed differently from the previous two, with a focus on ease of maintenance, a modular concept, fewer but more pertinent attributes, and suitability for an automated system. Additionally, this will be the first version of AMB to be released in GML format. AMB2014 is designed for both public release and GA-internal maritime boundary management. Some of the attributes are for internal use only, but that does not mean they should be removed for the public release. The AMB dataset consists of a series of points, lines and polygons calculated rigorously from a baseline. Whilst visually unimpressive, a considerable amount of work is required to produce these lines. AMB2014 aims to provide an improved product to users, and at the same time reduce the overhead needed to maintain the database.
