Lineage
The transmission substations were digitized in 2011 from the library of imagery held within Geoscience Australia. Imagery used ranged from 0.15m resolution aerial photos to 2.5m resolution satellite images. A complete revision was completed in July 2012. Source Information: Primary information sources used to identify and attribute the transmission substations came from annually released and publicly available publications. For Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, the contents of this dataset are a direct reflection of the network outlined on the 2009 and 2010 Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) High Voltage Network - Main System Diagram (available from www.aemo.com.au). These diagrams are released annually as part of the National Transmission Development Plan. For south west Western Australia (WA), the points reflect transmission substations data available from Western Power's Online Network Capacity Mapping Tool (http://www.westernpower.com.au/ldd/ncmtoverview.html) and the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). In the northwest of WA the points reflect the transmission substations of the North West Interconnected System (NWIS) (see - State of the energy market 2010 publication - www.accc.gov.au). In the Northern Territory (NT), the data reflects the transmission substations reported by the Power and Water Corporation in the NT Government's Utilities Commission report entitled 2009-10 Power System Review (http://www.nt.gov.au/ntt/utilicom/publications/reports_publications.shtml). These primary information sources were supplemented with online, publicly available information from utility companies, engineering firms and government agencies
