Great Artesian Basin borehole porosity and permeability data from petroleum exploration wells within the GAB, quality checked by Jim Kellet (Geoscience Australia).
Data is available in tabular format as a CSV file (comma delimited) and a Microsoft Excel 2010 file.
This data set was produced for the Great Artesian Basin Water Resource Assessment and reported in:

METHODS:
The sourced data went through a QA/QC process as follows:
QPED (Queensland data) and PEPS_SA (South Australian data):
the porosity/permeability databases were examined and the following errors were rectified:
1. Duplicate records removed where there were multiple records for a particular depth and vertical and horizontal permeability values were the same. In such cases the record containing the vertical permeability value was discarded, based on the assumption that Kv < Kh.
2. Any permeability records with a value of > 10 000 mD were discarded on the basis that values greater than 10 000 mD are likely to be outside normal range of consolidated rock (could be locally highly fractured but unlikely to be representative of GAB aquifers).
3. Where repeat values for a particular depth occurred that passed the criteria above, the first record in the sequence was retained and the subsequent duplicate records were deleted.
CADMAN 98:
It was assumed that the values taken from Cadman & Pain 1998 had already been quality checked, so no further QA/QC was done on these
Where data for a particular well depth was found in QPED and in Cadman & Pain, the Cadman porosity and permeability values were used.
