Geology and economic potential of the Palaeoproterozoic layered mafic-ultramafic intrusions in the East Kimberley, Western Australia
The Palaeoproterozoic layered mafic-ultramafic intrusions in the Halls Creek Orogen of the East Kimberley, Western Australia, represent one of the most extensively mineralised igneous associations of their type in Australia. They contain a range of magmatic and hydrothermal deposits of platinum-group elements, chromium, nickel, copper, cobalt, titanium, vanadium, iron, and gold.
Bulletin 246 presents the results of a collaborative AGSO/Geological Survey of Western Australia/Monash University/minerals industry study of the geology and mineral potential of these intrusions. It is an essential reference for those involved in the exploration of layered mafic-ultramafic intrusions, the geology of the Halls Creek Orogen and its environs, or the study of Precambrian orogenic terranes.
