Regional geology and mineral systems of the Stavely Arc, western Victoria
This report outlines key findings from the collaborative Geoscience Australia-Geological Survey of Victoria Stavely Project. New data acquired as part of the Stavely Project, including completion of a pre-competitive stratigraphic drilling program, has helped to shed light on the geology and mineral potential of this region under cover.

The Stavely Arc is a Cambrian magmatic arc system developed on the eastern margin of the
Delamerian Orogen within the Grampians-Stavely Zone in western Victoria. Radiometric dating of the
Stavely Arc yields ages of approximately 511-500 Ma, although many lithologies are unable to be
dated and the full duration of the arc is unknown. Regional geological constraints, however, suggest
that the Stavely Arc initiated around 525 Ma, and was active for approximately 25 million years.
