Abstract
This GSWA Southern Cross Total Count Grid Geodetic is an airborne-derived radiometric total count window countrate grid for the Southern Cross, WA, 1995-96 (Fugro) survey. The radiometric, or gamma-ray spectrometric method, measures the natural variations in the gamma-rays detected near the Earth's surface as the result of the natural radioactive decay of total count (K), total count (U) and total count (Th). The data collected are processed via standard methods to ensure the response recorded is that due only to the rocks in the ground. The results produce datasets that can be interpreted to reveal the geological structure of the sub-surface. The processed data is checked for quality by GA geophysicists to ensure that the final data released by GA are fit-for-purpose. This GSWA Southern Cross Total Count Grid Geodetic has a cell size of 0.0005 degrees (approximately 51m). The data are in units of counts per second (cps). The data used to produce this grid was acquired in 1995 by the WA Government, and consisted of 42693 line-kilometres of data at 100m line spacing and 50m terrain clearance.

Lineage
This GSWA Southern Cross Total Count Grid Geodetic is an airborne-derived radiometric total count window countrate grid for the Southern Cross, WA, 1995-96 (Fugro) survey. The survey was acquired in 1995 under the project No. 1051 for the geological survey of WA. The data consisted of 42693 line-kilometres of data at 100m line spacing and 50m terrain clearance. The radiometric count rate is contaminated by background radiation contributions from the aircraft, cosmic rays, and the presence of Radon gas escaping from the ground. It is also affected by the ground clearance of the detector, as well as the volume of the detector. This grid was produced after applying radiometric corrections to the total count window data from the survey. Noise-adjusted singular value decomposition (NASVD) has been applied to the data. NASVD is a spectral component analysis procedure for the removal of noise from gamma-ray spectra. The final grid is checked for quality by GA geophysicists to ensure that the final data released are fit-for-purpose. This GSWA Southern Cross Total Count Grid Geodetic has a cell size of 0.0005 degrees (approximately 51m) and shows the total count window countrate of the Southern Cross, WA, 1995-96 (Fugro) survey in units of counts per second (or cps).
