This service has been created specifically for display in the National Map and the chosen symbology may not suit other mapping applications. The Australian Topographic web map service is seamless national dataset coverage for the whole of Australia. These data are best suited to graphical applications. These data may vary greatly in quality depending on the method of capture and digitising specifications in place at the time of capture. The web map service portrays detailed graphic representation of features that appear on the Earth's surface. These features include the administration boundaries from the Geoscience Australia 250K Topographic Data, including state forest and reserves.

This webservice is a migration of the original web service to Arc 10.2. This web service has been created for the use in National Map (www.nationalmap.gov.au). The layers in the web services are not to be viewed beyond 1:70,000 scale due to the accuracy of the data. The data used in the web service are sourced from the GEODATA TOPO 250K database. When the GEODATA TOPO 250K database is updated, the web service will be recreated to reflect the new information in the database.
