Statement

In 2014 GA began a Project aimed at producing an LGA Council Office spatial database. Over a three month period from December 2014 to February 2015 GA built this database using information from the Australian Local Government Association, the individual council website and other public information sources.


During the development period a total of 626 features were identified and then used to build this database. Each site was then individually validated using aerial photography, ortho-photography and satellite imagery held within Geoscience Australia (GA). Image resolution for this imagery ranged from 0.15m to 2.5m across Australia.


The first version of this database was subsequently released on the GA website in March 2015.
