Peterborough to Port Fairy Multibeam (20180010S)
The Peterborough to Port Fairy bathymetry survey was acquired by Deakin University Marine Mapping lab onboard the M/V Yolla during the period 28 May 2018 - 19 June 2018 using a Kongsberg EM2040C multibeam sonar system. The survey was completed as part of the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program, which requires bathymetry data to understand offshore sediment dynamics within Victorian coastal waters. This dataset contains a 2m-resolution 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF file of the bathymetry in the study area, derived from the processed EM2040C bathymetry data using CARIS HIPS and SIPS software. This dataset is not to be used for navigational purposes.

While AusSeabed aims to publish data based on the requirements stated in the AusSeabed multibeam guidelines (version 1, https://australian-multibeam-guidelines.github.io), we will also publish interim products (version 0) that are currently available, but have not yet been standardised (version 1). Users should be aware that V1 products will always supersede V0 products. This dataset was produced using CARIS HIPS & SIPS and the AusSeabed-recommended processing methodology as follows.
Survey metadata:
This resource includes bathymetry data acquired during the Peterborough to Port Fairy bathymetry survey acquired by Deakin University during the period of 28 May, 01 June to 03 June, 07 June, 19 June 2018 onboard the MV Yolla using a Kongsberg EM2040c multibeam sonar. The Peterborough to Port Fairy bathymetry survey was led by Dr. Daniel Ierodiaconour (Deakin University).
The survey was part of a Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program, which requires bathymetry data to understand offshore sediment dynamics within Victorian state waters.
Processing methodology:
This dataset was produced using CARIS HIPS & SIPS and the AusSeabed-recommended processing methodology as follows.
1. A new Caris project was created in conjunction with existing or newly created vessel configuration file(s).
2. The raw swath sonar data files were imported to the project. GGK is the preferred navigation and ellipsoid height source.
3. The POSMV data files were imported to the project to bring in delayed heave, delayed heave RMS.
4. Post-processed POS MV data in POSPAC 8.3.
5. Applied SBETS to data in CARIS (PPK Solution).
6. TPU and GPS tide were computed and all data were georeferenced (merged) to Ellipsoid datum.
7. A CUBE was generated as a reference surface for data cleaning.
8. An automated data cleaning using the surface cleaning method with the reference surface was undertaken.
9. Further manual cleaning was conducted as required after visual assessment.
10. The final grid was produced at an optimum resolution of 2m.
11. At Geoscience Australia, the received GeoTIFF was shifted to EGM2008 using AusCoastVDT and CARIS HIPS and SIPS.
12. The final processed grids were exported as a 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF at 2m resolution, referenced to EGM2008.
