Abstract
Difference between 'pre-development' (1900-1920) and modern (2000-2010) groundwater levels at selected bore locations in the Great Artesian Basin This GIS data set was produced by CSIRO for the Great Artesian Basin Water Resource Assessment and used in Figure 7.5 of Ransley TR and Smerdon BD (eds) (2012) Hydrostratigraphy, hydrogeology and system conceptualisation of the Great Artesian Basin. A technical report to the Australian Government from the CSIRO Great Artesian Basin Water Resource Assessment. CSIRO Water for a Healthy Country Flagship, Australia. This dataset and associated metadata can be obtained from www.ga.gov.au, using catalogue number 76931. METHOD Water level difference calculations were derived by interpolating point difference data from coincident/near coincident pre-development and present day bores. Included points were derived after applying a 0.2 decimal degree buffer to the pre-development bore sites, to capture sites with modern water level measurements. Resulting differences in groundwater level were categorised into >=10m decrease, >=10m increase, and change of less than 10m in either direction.
