Abstract
Geoscience Australia, ACRES distribute Landsat Multispectral Scanner (MSS), Thematic Mapper (TM) and Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) data for a series of epochs or time frames covering Australia. The first epoch is 1972. These data have been produced and provided by the Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO). AGO use the data in their National Carbon Accounting System for monitoring land clearing and revegetation. This data is only available through ACRES and ACRES Landsat Distributors, and not through the AGO. More information is available at http://www.ga.gov.au/acres/prod_ser/agosuite.jsp This data is available in 1:1M tiles or as a full continental Mosaic. Tiles areas are available at: http://www.ga.gov.au/acres/prod_ser/agotilemap.jsp

1:1M AGO Ortho-corrected, radiometrically corrected tiles were mosaiced together and a standard transformation applied. All data is calibrated to a common geographic and spectral base (AGO year 2000 base). TM data is provided in RGB bands for Continental Mosaics or all bands except thermal bands for tile data. Further details regarding the processing are available from Technical Report No. 9 at www.greenhouse.gov.au/ncas/reports/tech09.html. The 2002 Continental mosaic is also available as a pan sharpened version. The pan-sharpening process involves a resolution merging process, which allows the fusion of the higher-resolution ETM+, 15m panchromatic band with selected lower-resolution 30m multispectral bands to create a higher-resolution pan sharpened colour image.
