Abstract

This OGC WMS web service (generated by Geoserver) serves data from the Geoscience Australia Rock Properties database. The database stores the results of measurements of physical properties of rock and regolith specimens, including such properties as mass density, magnetic susceptibility, magnetic remanence and electrical conductivity. The database also records analytical process information such as method and instrument details where possible.

This web service contains rock property data sourced from Geoscience Australia and other agencies from field mapping surveys, drilling programs, and geophysical laboratories. Service updated December 2019 to include three additional rock properties: hydraulic conductivity, NMR relaxation and water content. WMS point symbology was also reviewed, with changes to symbol shapes and colour scheme. PKCOLNO feature attribute removed, and WFS feature identifier (FID) changed from PKCOLNO attribute to RESULTNO attribute. Service updated May 2022 to include three additional rock properties: elasticity, strength and permeability.
