  • Australia's Identified Mineral Resources is an annual nation-wide assessment of Australia's ore reserves and mineral resources.

  • Until recent years the consumption of copper in Australia had not been greatly different from the domestic mine output. Production attained a high peak during the war, but there has since been a serious drop. Although this drop is temporary, it has unfortunately coincided with a period of severe dollar shortage and of rapidly expanding demand for the metal. As a consequence it has been apparent for some time that two important problems face the metal industry in this country, now and for an indefinite number of years in the future: to what extent Australian production of copper can be expected to meet local consumption, and in what manner imports of copper can be made available from soft currency areas rather than from hard currency sources. It is with the idea of clarifying the position that this note has been prepared. To place the Australian picture in proper perspective it must be viewed against the background of the world's copper position and accordingly this note has been divided into two parts: the World position, and the Australian position.

  • Map produced for the department of Pirimary Industries Victoria. Shows the Victorian Marine Aquaculture Fisheries Reserves around Port Philip Bay. This map is for the internal use of DPI Victoria only.

  • The purpose of this investigation was to collate previously disparate information on near-pristine estuaries and make it widely available for use by managers, researchers, policy makers and the general public. This information was acquired through scientific articles, reports, conference proceedings, government agencies, grey literature, websites, expert advice and anecdotal observation and was summarised both on a state-by-state basis and at the national level, with emphasis on current knowledge and management.

  • The map shows in situ coal resoruces. The resources of brown and black coal depsits are totalled and assigned to basins/regions which host these deposits.

  • From 1995 to 2000 information from the federal and state governments was compiled for Comprehensive Regional Assessments (CRA), which formed the basis for Regional Forest Agreements (RFA) that identified areas for conservation to meet targets agreed by the Commonwealth Government with the United Nations. These 3 CDs were created as part of GA's contribution to the Eden, NSW CRA. CD1 contains original and final versions of all data coverages and shapefiles used in the project, Published Graphics files in ArcInfo (.gra), postscript (.ps) and Web ready (.gif) formats, all Geophysical Images and Landsat data and final versions of documents provided for publishing. CD2 contains the DEFUNCT directories, data that has been modified or replaced in the final version. CD3 contains the INTEGRTN directory, integration data used for evaluating options.

  • Australia's Identified Mineral Resources is an annual nation-wide assessment of Australia's ore reserves and mineral resources.

  • When the question of iron ore resources in Australia was being considered in 1937 and 1938, it was stated in departmental reports that information concerning the deposits and reserves of iron ore was incomplete, but that sufficient was available to indicate that Australia possessed very small reserves of iron ore in comparison with those of other continents and that the actual reserves were small and sufficient to last for only 50 to 100 years dependent on the future rate of consumption. This report summarises the current position regarding the resources of iron ore deposits throughout Australia. Two tables are appended detailing the production and export of iron ore for 1926-1944, and iron ore used, 1937-1944.

This CD was created as part of GA's contribution to the East Gippsland CRA. It contains final versions of all data coverages and shapefiles, AMLs and Graphics files in ArcInfo (.gra), postscript (.ps) and Web ready (.gif) formats, and final versions of documents, maps and figures submitted for publishing.
