  • This dataset reflects the boundaries of claimant and nonclaimant native title applications that have been determined in part or in full, together with attribution about that determination. This dataset is stored nationally. The National Native Title Register (s192, Native Title Act, Commonwealth), is a register containing information about each determination of native title by the Federal or High Court or by a recognized State or Territory body. Determinations are categorized by both process and outcome. Process will be by consent, litigation or unopposed. Outcome will be that native title will have been found to exist in full or part, or been extinguished. Those determinations subject to appeal are also noted. Geospatial data portraying native title information produced by the National Native Title Tribunal may not be on-sold. Value added products using this data must acknowledge the National Native Title Tribunal as the data source and include the NNTT disclaimer.

  • This database contains information on faults, folds and other features within Australia that are believed to relate to large earthquakes during the Neotectonic Era (i.e. the past 5-10 million years). The neotectonic feature mapping tool allows you to: * search and explore Australian neotectonic features * create a report for a feature of interest * download feature data and geometries as a csv file or kml file * advise Geoscience Australia if you have any feedback, or wish to propose a new feature.

  • Using data from the six Australian continental magnetic observatories, a contour display of the rate-of-change of magnetic total intensity, F, over the continent is shown below. This provides a broad view of how F changes across Australia. The units shown on the contours are in nanoTesla per hour. The grey squares indicate the locations of the magnetic observatories. Both real-time and historic data can be displayed in this format. All maps are generated from a period of 15 minutes of observatory data and available at 15 minute intervals.

  • The data set provides outlines for the maximum extent of geomorphic units for Australia's Exclusive Economic Zone, including the offshore island territories, but not the Australian Antarctic Territory. These data were compiled as part of Geoscience Australia's integrated digital information system to provide improved accessibility and knowledge relating to the environmental management of Australia's oceans resources. The geomorphic units are to be used as surrogates for benthic habitats and can be best applied to the construction of bioregionalisations of the seabed. The data set also includes the name of units in the attribute table, where known, the source(s) of the names, feature codes and province codes as well as the area and perimeter of each unit. The data are accompanied by Geoscience Australia Record 2003/30. Updated October 2006.

  • This dataset provides the spatially continuous data of seabed mud content (sediment fraction < 63 µm) expressed as a weight percentage ranging from 0 to 100%, presented in 0.01 decimal degree resolution raster format. The dataset covers the Australian continental EEZ, including seabed surrounding Tasmania. It does not include areas surrounding Macquarie Island, and the Australian Territories of Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, and Cocos (Keeling) Islands or Australia's marine jurisdiction off of the Territory of Heard and McDonald Islands and the Australian Antarctic Territory. This dataset supersedes previous predictions of sediment mud content for the Australian Margin with demonstrated improvements in accuracy. Accuracy of predictions varies based on density of underlying data and level of seabed complexity. Artefacts occur in this dataset as a result of insufficient samples in relevant regions. This dataset is intended for use at national and regional scales. The dataset may not be appropriate for use at local scales in areas where sample density is insufficient to detect local variation in sediment properties. To obtain the most accurate interpretation of sediment distribution in these areas, it is recommended that additional samples be collected and interpolations updated.

  • This average precipitation grid are current as at 10/3/2011 and is version 3 of the Australian Water Availability Project. It is the average precipitation for all months from January 1900 until December 2010.

  • The product is a digital representation of the boundaries and names of Surface Water Management Areas defined by State and Territory water management agencies for use in national water resources reporting. Surface Water Management Areas generally correspond to Australia`s River Basin boundaries, however in some States and Territories the Areas are a sub-set or a major part of Australia`s River Basins. The dataset is produced by the National Land and Water Resources Audit (NLWRA) and distributed by Geoscience Australia. The data is suitable for GIS applications. Free online. Available in ArcInfo Export, ArcView Shapefile and MapInfo mid/mif. Product Specifications Coverage: Australia Currency: November 2000 Coordinates: Geographical Datum: GDA94 Format: ArcInfo Export, ArcView Shapefile and MapInfo mid/mif Medium: Free online and CD-ROM (fee applies)

  • The derivation of this data set is described in detail by M.Somerville,D. Wyborn, P. N. Chopra, S. S. Rahman, D. Estrella and T. van der Meulen(1994), "Hot Dry Rocks Feasibility Study", Australian Energy Research and Development Corporation Report 94/243, pp 133. The temperature at 5 km depth has been estimated from temperature logresults from 3475 boreholes for which bottom-hole temperature andtemperature gradient data are available. An image has been built from these extrapolated temperature estimates using the Arc/Info createtin and tinlattice commands.

  • Contains boundary and attribute information for parcels of public, private and Aboriginal lands in Australia. Data are sourced primarly from government gazette notices, cadastral maps and plans. A nominal scale of around 1:5 million and a minimum 50 square kilometre threshold limit for land parcels was used in the generalisation of this product from the National Public and Aboriginal Lands data. Data is suitable for GIS applications. This map shows public and private land tenure, including Indigenous land for the whole of Australia at a scale of 1:4.7 million. The land tenure boundaries depicted on this map generally define broadly classified areas greater than 50 square kilometres. Indigenous land areas between 0.1 and 100 square kilometres are shown more comprehensively by symbols. The information on this map is complemented by statistical tables giving the total area of the land tenure categories for each State and Territory. This map is also available as free vector GIS data, ArcInfo Export, ArcView Shapefile and MapInfo mid/mif. Please direct any corrections or feedback on this map to mapfeedback@ga.gov.au. • Contains boundary and attribute information for parcels of public, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land in Australia which are greater than 40 hectares. Selected smaller areas are shown by point locations (includes nature reserves, forests and Aboriginal land). Categories include: -nature conservation reserves -forestry reserves -Aboriginal land -water reserves -defence reserves; and -mining reserves. Attribute information includes (as applicable to the type of reserve): -State and reserve name -reserve type -administering authority -size (in hectares) -identification number; and -dates of original proclamation and latest update.
