Abstract
Boundary defining the extent of the Paleogene and Neogene sequence overlying the Great Artesian Basin. Data is available in Shapefile format This data set was used in: Figures 3.2 and 5.9 of Ransley TR and Smerdon BD (eds) (2012) Hydrostratigraphy, hydrogeology and system conceptualisation of the Great Artesian Basin. A technical report to the Australian Government from the CSIRO Great Artesian Basin Water Resource Assessment. CSIRO Water for a Healthy Country Flagship, Australia. Figure 3.3 of Smerdon BD, Ransley TR, Radke BM and Kellett JR (2012) Water resource assessment for the Great Artesian Basin. A report to the Australian Government from the CSIRO Great Artesian Basin Water Resource Assessment. CSIRO Water for a Healthy Country Flagship, Australia. This dataset and associated metadata can be obtained from www.ga.gov.au, using catalogue number 75844.

Lineage
SOURCE: Marion, Springvale, Old Cork, Warrego and Aremra basins after Langford et al. (1995) Condamine is from Langford et al (1995) but modified using Klohn Crippen Berger (2011), and the 1:250K Geological Map Series (Geoscience Australia, 2010). Darling River tributary deep leads are derived from Langford et al (1995), modified using Kellet et al (2008), Kellett, J. R., B. Pearce, et al. (2004) and NSW digital data sets (NSW Office of Water, 2012a, 2012b) . Karumba is from Doutch (1976) with modification of eroded eastern margin utilizing Geoscience Australia's 1:2.5M Hydrogeology of the GAB dataset (Habermehl & Lau 2011) and the Surface Geology of Australia 1:1 million scale dataset (Raymond, O.L., 2012). Kalpowar Basin is interpreted from the Surface Geology of Australia 1:1 million scale dataset (Raymond, O.L., 2012). Hamilton basin was captured from the South Australian Mineral Explorers Guide (Rogers et.al. 2003). METHOD: Data from a variety of sources were interpreted and/or compiled to form this data set.
