Abstract

Geoscience Australia conducted equipment tests at Millmerran, Queensland, using the newly acquired Sercel SN368 data acquisition seismic system. The equipment operated satisfactorily and proved to be versatile.
Raw data for this survey are available on request from clientservices@ga.gov.au - Quote eCat# 74967

Lineage
The Bureau of Mineral Resources purchased a new seismic data acquisition system during 1985-86. The system (SERCEL SN368) is a telemetry system and was completely new to all personnel in the seismic section. Following a short course on the system and the installation of the equipment in vehicles a short test survey was conducted at Millmerran in Queensland during May and June 1986. The objective of this survey was to test the equipment, determine modes of operation, allow personnel to become familiar with the system, recommend changes to anciliary equipment if necessary and to acquire sufficient data for testing the BMR Disco SEG-D processing routines. For operational simplicity the survey area was chosen close to Brisbane where assistance could be provided by Seismic Supply and where a known thickness of sediment existed.
