Abstract
<div>The aim of the Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) project is to develop an end-to-end, fully automated InSAR processing system that will take raw SAR data from any sensor and produce time-series maps of surface deformation/movement.</div><div>Surface deformation maps are important products to help define the national geodetic reference frame by augmenting the geodetic data obtained from sparse ground networks, in addition to identifying regions with elevated natural hazard risk.</div>

Purpose
Geoscience Australia GitHub repository houses the "ga_sar_workflow" (https://github.com/GeoscienceAustralia/ga_sar_workflow) which provides the tools to process Sentinel-1 SLC data into Analysis Ready Data (ARD) using the GAMMA software, specifically ARD products for georeferenced backscatter and interferograms. This software is intended to be generic and reusable, however... it should be noted to adopters that this software at the time of writing has only been used by Geoscience Australia on specific Sentinel-1, RADARSAT-2, and ALOS datasets - as such there are certain assumptions still being made in some areas of the code with respect to things like GAMMA program settings being hard-coded in some cases.

Lineage
<div><strong><em>A lineage of releases may be viewed here: https://github.com/GeoscienceAustralia/ga_sar_workflow/releases</em></strong></div><div><strong>Prior Year 2021</strong>: processing of SAR data using GAMMA with bash scripts and a python prototype (incomplete) started [Fuhrmann, Garthwaite, Lawrie, Moghaddam*]. </div><div> <strong>Year 2021:</strong> Rewrite of bash scripts into a python workflow [Davies, Dorji, Garcia, Fuhrmann, Garthwaite, Hooke, Sixsmith, Vincent*]. Advances in interferometry quality (surpass previous outputs). Numerous production quality improvements (usability, logging, validation, algorithmic robustness, etc.). Increases to reliability and robustness of data outputs. CARD4L compliance for SAR products & STAC metadata. Five plus years of InSAR data produced (2016-2021) totalling over 100TB (successfully used by InSAR team to deliver NSW Project when processed using PyRate - see paper released in July 2023 below). Added RADARSAT-2, ALOS PALSAR 1 & 2 support to the workflow. </div><div> <strong>Year 2022:</strong> Further development of python code [Wheeler]. Add TSX/TDX satellite support to workflow, huge effort to raise code quality for long development stability/feasibility, user-facing usability improvements, documentation (technical and user interface). Add support for appending new data to stacks to support future operational ARD (analysis ready data) processing. Removed dependency on NCI. Add infrastructure for ongoing upgrades. </div><div> <strong>Year 2023 (March-July):</strong> Further development of python code [Roberts]. Rewrote the GAMMA wrapper to introduce type information and support for GAMMA 20221129. Introduced type checking of code and various fixes. Fix logging issues, hang-ups, calls, constant types etc. Tackled several open GitHub issues. Fixes to documentation and naming [McIntyre]. </div><div> * Contributors listed alphabetically. </div><div><strong> Publications </strong></div><div><strong> </strong>Z.
