Abstract
1997 Victoria Grampians 2D seismic survey operations were performed for the Australian Geological Survey Organisation (now Geoscience Australia). The survey was conducted during April 1997. The survey consists three lines, covering 68.96 km. The Victoria Grampians seismic survey was a component of the Australian Geodynamics Cooperative Research Centre (AGCRC) VicGold project. This was a multidisciplinary project with the aim of influencing the economic development of the world class western Victorian gold province.

Lineage
Reconnaissance for the AGCRC Victorian Grampians seismic survey took place in 1996 which identified two suitable traverse locations to meet the program objectives. Logistical and processing difficulties arise when reflection seismic data is acquired in areas of rugged topography. Hence, for logistic reasons, the seismic lines were located on the relatively flat plain country to the north and northeast of the Grampians. The survey was conducted entirely along pre-existing roads and tracks. The western line, 97AGS-V1 (37 km), was oriented east-west, whereas the eastern line, 97AGS-V2 (27 km), trended northeast-southwest. Line 97AGS-V3 (5 km) was a single spread about 5 km long, acquired to look at the 3D geometry of the structures intersected in line 97AGS-V2.
