Abstract

The National Groundwater Information System(NGIS), produced by BoM (Bureau of Meterology), is a geodatabase for storing nationally consistent groundwater data based on the ArcHydro for Groundwater data model. Contents include: - bores - bore logs - construction logs - lithology logs - hydrogeologic units - 3D bore lines - 3D construction lines - 3D georasters - 3D geovolumes Data has been provided by the following agencies: NSW Office of Water 03/08/2012 VIC Department of Sustainability and Environment 29/06/2012 SA Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources 09/11/2012 QLD Department of Natural Resources and Mines 29/08/2012 WA Department of Water 17/02/2012 WA Water Corporation 17/07/2012 TAS Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment 06/08/2012 NT Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment 13/08/2012 Data has been exported from corporated state/territory groundwater databases into the NGIS data model. NGIS datawent through the Bureau's NGIS QA/QC process in January - February 2013and were then ingested into the national NGIS geodatabase. The Bureau QA/QC process identified several types of issues from original data stored the state/territory groundwater databases and could not be addressed: Attributes that have not been populated e.g. DrilledDepth, BoreDepth, DrilledDate Attributes with unreasonable values e.g. very large or small values for DrilledDepth and BoreDepth, dates in the future or distant past for DrilledDate
